In most cases, the time from submission to decision for articles submitted to the American Journal of Archaeology is from four to six months.
Submissions should not exceed 20,000 words, including abstract, article body, works cited, notes, and figure captions.
All submissions should follow the AJA Policy on the Publication and Citation of Unprovenanced Antiquities.

Bernard Knapp is Emeritus Professor of Mediterranean Archaeology in the Department of Humanities (Archaeology) at the University of Glasgow and Honorary Research Fellow at the Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute. He coedits the Journal of Mediterranean Archaeology with John F. Cherry, Peter van Dommelen, Sarah Murray, and Catherine Kearns; he also serves as the general editor of the series Monographs in Mediterranean Archaeology. He is the author and editor of several books, including, most recently, Seafaring and Seafarers in the Bronze Age Eastern Mediterranean (Sidestone 2018) and Migration Myths and the End of the Bronze Age in the Eastern Mediterranean (Cambridge 2021).
