Grace Erny

Grace Erny is a Loeb Classical Library Postdoctoral Fellow at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens and, from July 2023, Assistant Professor of Ancient Greek and Roman Studies at the University of California at Berkeley. Her research focuses on the archaeology and social history of Greece in the first millennium BCE, and her current book project investigates economic inequality, social differentiation, and rural communities in Archaic and Classical Crete. Other published and in-progress work includes contributions on the gender sociology of Mediterranean survey archaeology, the contemporary archaeology of the Greek countryside, and conservatism in Cretan material culture. She has served as staff on three archaeological projects in Greece: the Western Argolid Regional Project, the Bays of East Attica Regional Survey, and the Anavlochos Excavations.
