Ambra Spinelli is a Ph.D. candidate in art history at the University of Southern California. She received her B.A. in classics and M.A. in archaeology from the University of Bologna. Her work integrates artifactual, architectural, decorative, and textual evidence to explore domestic life in the Bay of Naples and the archaeology of the household. Her interests also encompass the influence of Oriental and Italic cults and Roman perceptions and adaptations of earlier traditions. She was an intern at the J. Paul Getty Villa Museum and is currently an Andrew Mellon Digital Humanities Fellow. Since 2011 she has served as project archivist and assistant to the director of the University of Cincinnati’s Pompeii Archaeological Research Project: Porta Stabia.
