Virginia R. Herrmann

Virginia R. Herrmann received a doctorate in Near Eastern archaeology from the University of Chicago in 2011. She is currently a Junior Research Group Leader at the Institute for Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the University of Tübingen and codirector of the Chicago-Tübingen excavations at Zincirli. Her research interests include the dynamics of ancient empires, household archaeology, urban organization, and the social role of mortuary cult, particularly in the Bronze and Iron Ages of the Levant and Anatolia.
