Aleydis Van de Moortel

Aleydis Van de Moortel is associate professor of classical archaeology at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) and codirector of the Mitrou Archaeological Project. Her main research interest is the emergence and decline of complex societies in Aegean prehistory and the role of craft production in periods of societal change. She is currently studying the Middle Helladic–Protogeometric architecture of Mitrou, employing principles of practice theory. In addition, she is in charge of publishing Minoan pottery from Malia and the Kamares cave, and she is conducting research on ancient and medieval ships and seafaring.
