Luke Lavan

Luke Lavan is a lecturer in archaeology at the University of Kent, where he codirects the Centre for Late Antique Archaeology and edits the annual Late Antique Archaeology. His doctorate investigated provincial capitals of late antiquity, while his current research focuses on the everyday use of public space. He is currently writing a monograph on the latter topic, supported by the Leverhulme Trust. At Ostia, he directed excavation and survey from 2008 to 2011, in conjunction with the Humboldt University, to provide a case study of the development of streets and squares in this period.
