Will Wootton

Will Wootton’s research is concerned with craft production in antiquity, focusing on the intersections between materials and techniques, and craftsmen and clients. He received his doctorate from Oxford University before moving to King’s College London as the Research Council’s UK Fellow in Roman Art; he is now a lecturer there. He has worked extensively on mosaics, a medium in which he has practical experience. He is currently the principal investigator on a Leverhulme-funded project on Roman stone carving (www.artofmaking.ac.uk) and has received funding from the Getty Foundation to put on workshops in Libya on mosaic conservation and site management.
