Jane B. Carter received her doctorate in classical archaeology from Harvard University. Her publications include Greek Ivory-Carving in the Orientalizing and Archaic Periods (New York 1985), The Ages of Homer (J.B. Carter and S. Morris, eds. [Austin 1995]), and a number of articles. Carter has conducted fieldwork at Knidos, Corinth, Nemea, Koukounaries on Paros, Kavousi on Crete, Lefkada, and Pylos. She has taught at Tulane University since 1983 and is presently the chair of the Department of Classical Studies there.
